Local School Districts Tighten Belts as Big Budget Cuts Loom

[ALTACITIES.COM] ... LOCAL SCHOOLS FACE BUDGET CRISIS: Schools across the San Gabriel Valley are preparing to eliminate more than $50 million from their budgets for the upcoming school year.

Some districts plan to cut positions and programs as soon as possible. Others have hiring freezes in place and hope the financial picture will change when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the state Legislature hash out a revised budget in May.
